Club Rules

These "RULES" shall apply to all persons whilst operating on any site officially approved and recognised by the Club. No person is permitted to fly without current BMFA insurance. Your LMFC Membership Card must be carried at all times.

  1. The official Club Site comprises Lansdown North Playing Field, Bath. Over-flying of highways houses, persons, organised games and pits area is not permitted and flying must be in accordance with the site rules and the general rules laid down in the BMFA Members Handbook.
  2. Only pilots with a LMFC Achievement Certificate, or BMFA 'A' Certificate are permitted to fly "solo" in the absence of an approved instructor or BMFA 'B' Certificate holder. Tuition can be arranged with a Committee Member.
  3. All members should ascertain who else may be on their frequency upon arrival to the site. Transmitters must NOT be switched on until a peg with your name and frequency number on 35mhz or 27mhz, has been put on the peg board. All transmitters must have a frequency number, or colour pennant displayed at all times. 
  4.  Members using 2.4ghz frequency must display a black pennant at all times.  A peg with your name and 2.4ghz must be displayed on the 2.4ghz section of the frequency board.
  5. Any member not adhering to this rule could be expelled from the Club.
  6. Operation is restricted to the following types of models:
    R.C. Fixed Wing Models powered by I.C. Engines fitted with appropriate mufflers; R.C. Gliders and Electric powered models; Free Flight rubber and CO2 powered models. The maximum all up flying weight of any aircraft shall not exceed 7.0 kilograms. As we are a Noise Sensitive Site the Agreement with B&NES and the Club is that the maximum noise output of 79 dBA measured at 7 metres and 1 metre above ground level will be strictly enforced. Any model exceeding this limit will not be allowed to fly.
  7. Members must not fly in such a manner that is likely to endanger other members or visitors to the site. Compliance with Articles 55 and 56 of the Air Navigation Order, CAP 658 is mandatory.
  8. The flight line is along the 18mtr line of the football pitch. Flying behind the flightline is strictly forbidden.
    No aircraft should be taxied to or from the flightline under it's own power. Wherever possible it should be carried.
  9. The maximum number of models in the air at the same time will not exceed FIVE of mixed type.

    FLYING TIMES FOR  POWERED MODELS

    Monday : 10am – 5pm (maximum 2-strokes flying is THREE)
    Tuesday : 10am – 5pm (maximum 2-strokes flying is THREE)
    Tuesday eve' : 5pm – 8pm (maximum 2-strokes flying is TWO)
    Wednesday : 10am – 5pm (maximum 2-strokes flying is THREE)
    Thursday : 10am – 5pm (maximum 2-strokes flying is THREE)
    Thursday eve' : 5pm- 8pm (maximum 2-strokes flying is TWO)
    Friday : 10am – 5pm (maximum 2-strokes flying is THREE)
    Saturday : 10am – 5pm (maximum 2-strokes flying is THREE)

    Sunday : (maximum 2-strokes flying is two)

    ELECTRIC AND SILENT FLIGHT AIRCRAFT HAVE NO RESTRICTIONS AT ALL AT ANY TIME EXCEPTING ADHERING TO THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF FIVE.

    Four–stroke powered models can fit into the above as long as the maximum number of models in the air do not exceed (FIVE).
  10. All models MUST stay within the boundaries of the playing field site. (Terms and Conditions of hire of site).
  11. If a pilot has an engine cut he shall call out "DEAD STICK" and obviously has priority for landing over other models.
  12. The Safety Officer, or a Committee Member, is duly authorised to order immediate landing of any aircraft should any of the Site Hire Conditions, BMFA rules, Club rules or Bye-Laws be infringed.
  13. Any behaviour by a Club Member which is prejudicial to the continued use of the Clubs' facilities will be considered by the Committee and may result in the expulsion of the offender from the Club.
  14. Junior Members under the age of 16 are only permitted onto the Flying Site whilst accompanied by a Parent or Guardian.
  15. Members shall be responsible for any guests whom they bring to Club sites.
  16. Mobile Telephones must be switched off at all times.
  17. No dogs are allowed on the sites.
  18. The Site must be left clean and tidy before you leave; any model debris to be taken home.
  19. The "Rules" shall be subject to annual review and ratification at the Annual General Meeting.
